“Pastels are a beautiful medium to work with. They consist of pure powdered pigments and a binder, they don't have the material certainty of oil paint. I can be less serious when working in pastel. Although it is one of the most permanent mediums, it is probably the most fragile. When touched, it is like the dust in the desert, it’s almost, as if you could blow it away. I love the feeling of being able to blow away a mistake.”
